The creator / founder of Nooshooz

Bernie Hurst is one of the biggest shoe lovers out there and this is exactly why she designed her interchangeable shoes. Faced with excess baggage charges at the airport check-in, her family had to board the plane with one of Bernie’s shoes in every pocket they could find. There must be a better way was Bernie’s thinking and this ball of fire got to work. Her excess baggage issue arose May 2007, she did her first designs during that holiday and she received the first shoes to sell in October 2008.

Her perfect shoes had to be a beautiful shape, highly fashionable, comfortable to wear and the best quality she could get so only a leather sole and handmade would do. She tried China first but the quality was not up to her expectation. She went to Brazil and eventually tracked down a couture shoe maker who also makes handmade bags for the best known UK luxury store.

Everyone who puts their feet a pair of Nooshooz says how good they feel. It’s that Cinderella slipper fitting moment! You can try them too as Bernie will bring them to your home if you live within a 40 mile radius of Worthing in the UK.

Nooshooz had their debut at London Fashion Week in October 2009 sharing a spot with Marta (right), shoelery queen and founder of Swap Top Shoes / onceuponabelt.com. Here you see Bernie Hurst swept off her feet, literally, by Charlie Drummond – to ensure all could admire them. On Bernie’s exquisitely pedicured tootsies you see Anastasia with handmade white leather sole and mint green suede uppers.
